The Finals are a Wrap for Monster Army Recon Tour Snowboard and Ski Contest Series
The Monster Army Recon Tour wrapped up the winter series at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. The final round drew top up and coming talent from all over the country, Canada and as far as New Zealand. Athletes were competing for a $7,500 cash purse and tons of swag and prizes from Monster, Hookit, Replay XD, Mophie, Freestyle, Electric, Fuel, EVS, Yea.Nice, Coal, Romp Skis, Transworld Snowboarding and Freeskiier magazine.
The talent has been deep for the entire tour, but it was the Mammoth locals who dominated most of the snowboard and ski divisions at the final stop. For the athletes who were in the overall series points chase in the Open divisions, there was a lot at stake. Beyond the cash, a Monster Army athlete contract was up for grabs for the 2013/2014 winter season. For the younger am divisions, it was all bragging rights.
“We’re pumped on our first Winter Recon Tour and that we were able provide a solid contest series to help the up and coming athletes get their names out there,” said Scott Tilton, CEO of Hookit, which runs the Recon Tour. “Monster Energy, the athletes, mountains and the rest of our tour partners are the ones who made this tour possible. We look forward to continuing to expand the series for years to come.”
