Hookit Expands Partnership with Monster Energy for Winter Recon Tour
CORONA, Calif., (Dec 17, 2012) – Monster Energy has again teamed up with Hookit to launch the inaugural 2013 Winter Recon Tour, a three stop snowboard and ski slopestyle contest series. The tour starts Jan 12-13th at Park City Mountain Resort, heads to Mt High Resort Jan 26-27th and the finals will be held at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, March 2nd where overall winners of the tour will be crowned. The Recon Tour’s mission is to provide a better platform for snowboarders and skiers of all ages and abilities to compete and showcase their talent. The tour initially began in BMX targeting the southern California region for the 2012 Summer Recon Tour and with great success, has expanded into the snow categories. “There’s a need for amateur events to support the next generation of athletes and provide more opportunities to prove themselves through competition,” said Monster Energy’s Christopher Stumbles. “We’re stoked to continue our partnership with Hookit to build the Recon Tour into the premiere contest series to find and support undiscovered talent.” With more than $50,000 in cash and prizes on the line, competing riders will have the opportunity to win big at every stop. Men and women competitors in the Open divisions will be paid out $7,000 when the three stop tour comes to an end. Monster Army is additionally putting up podium cash to anyone signed up for the Monster Army program prior the first event. $150/$100/$50 in prize money will be paid to 1st/2nd/3rd at each of the three events in select amateur divisions.
