Update from Cook RacingThe season got off to a rough start, as Sasha took an injury to her throttle thumb/hand during the biggest race of the season, the I-500 in Thief River Falls, MN. You could see the disappointment in her eyes when she came into the fuel stop, took her helmet off and said, "I can't possibly press the throttle down any longer." Being so disappointed, and being told by the ER not to ride for a few weeks, she took that into resting, icing and working to make her hand and thumb stronger. About a day before we headed to Red Lake, MN Sasha jumped on her sled, with a well taped wrist and thumb. It felt good she told everyone. Not knowing what to expect in Red Lake, she entered all three of her classes, Sport 600 improved, Sport 600, and Women's. Lets not forget, Sasha is the only girl racing in the Sport classes, and she surely has shown, she can keep up with the boys. The weekend went great! Her hand didnt bother her one bit, she took a 4th place finish in Sport improved, a 9th place finish in Sport, and finished the day with a 3rd place finish in Women's!! She knew she was back into the groove of racing. Practicing every day again, up til we packed up and headed to Grand Forks, ND. Sasha again entered her three classes, the weather was great, and a 10 mile course approx. She stuck up with the boys in her Sport classes again, Way to go Sasha! She finished Sport improved in 9th and Sport in 15th, and this time, she took home a 2nd place in Women's. We then packed up and headed to Fargo, ND for a race on Sunday. The course was rough, whooped out and only 5 miles long. Right up Sasha's alley loving her snocross. Sasha only entered two classes this race, in her Sport improved class she was looking great right away, then had some problems seeing out of her goggles as her facemask fell into her eyes, she did not give up, passing a few here and there, and about a mile from the finish line on lap four, gave a little show to the crowd and she flew off her sled. She finished in 15th in that race. She then got on her sled for the Women's race, she took advantage of knowing what the course was like and ran well, she finished with yet another 2nd place! Sasha is forsure back to her regular aggressive racing. She is now preparing for yet another snocross type track we head to in two weeks. Munising, Michigan. Updates will be up as soon as we get home and unpacked! Thanks for the support! Cook Racing Special Thanks!A special thanks to the following people for the donations to help me enter races and pay for stuff I need for racing!!! Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
Some friends that Race USCC told me to try it, and from watching the snocross races in Minnesota.
List your competitive highlights:
Finished all 5 races I have competed in. With finishes as follows: 5th,3rd,4th,2nd,3rd places
What are you planning for next season?
To finish at the top. Race both cross country and some snocross. To be even more confident in my riding than I was last year.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Finishing the I-500 in Thief River Falls. A 500 mile race over a period of three days.. The most grueling course in America.
Q&A - Personal
What inspires you to compete?
Racing has always been something I have wanted to do. So I told myself to go for it, and I have loved it ever since.
Some people that inspire me to race..
Adam Brandt, he has taken time to show me different things on my sled, he has taken his time to work on my sled and to get it set up for racing along with getting his sled and his brother's ready. Adam has helped me learn the way of racing, he has told me how the track is before I go out and what to do in tough spots. I have learned a lot from him about racing, lets just say that haha.. Thanks Adam!!
Carly Davis, I met her this past year racing and she has been a big role model to me, watching her race, builds my confidence level and makes me want to ride like her.
Taylor Carlson, She has helped me alot get into racing. She races sno-x in Minnesota. She helped put on a womens clinic that I went to this year. She has taught me to never give up on my dreams.
Levi Lavalle, basically a hero to me in racing. He has showed not only me but the world that anything can happen if you try.
Steven Taylor, he has taught me that even on bad days, you cant let that bother you. You have to go out and work harder to accomplish your goals if you fail the first time.
Why do you compete?
Because it builds my self-esteem, and its a lot of fun. Get to be with friends a lot!! Racing isnt about just winning, its about havin' fun!
