2008 Summary: With plans to start a family sometime soon, I put 100% into having an outstanding season in 2007, winning my fourth AMA District 17 Championship in the Women's class, with a perfect score in the Stadium MX series (14 wins, average of 12 women per race). So in 2008, the focus shifted to my husband in 2008, as he wanted to reach his dream of qualifying for the Loretta Lynn's National. Instead of racing every weekend, we spent a lot of time practicing and training, and it paid off, as Scott finished 3rd and 5th at the area qalifier and regional qualifier to make it to the National! He finished 30th O/A at the National in Vet 30 B (23-34-29), and of course we had a great time down there in Tennessee! I was his mechanic, photographer, and biggest fan! Now we have both checked the box for racing the Loretta Lynn's National on our list of motocross goals!
In 2008, I still fit in nearly 20 races, with a mix of motocross, stadium motocross, and hare scrambles. I enjoyed mixing it up after racing mostly stadium motocross in 2007. I especially had fun with the the hare scrambles, as it was something totally new, and we had a strong turnout with an average of 10 women per race. I finished 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd in my hare scramble races, and felt really good about my races and lap times. If it wasn't for the dead engine starts with a 250F, I think I might have been able to take a win or two!

Well, it's been a long and rewarding season.... I've been racing just about every weekend and pumping my sponsors and their products every chance I get (at the track, over the internet, with photojournalism, etc.). I've also been pounding out the race reports and photos for Cycle News, Cycle USA, and www.midwest-racing.com, helping the Midwest racers get exposure.
But the most exciting news is that I'm on my way to winning my fourth AMA District 17 Women's championship, this time in the Stadium MX series. I have really enjoyed racing Stadium MX this year because the Women's class turnouts have been very strong (typical turnout is around 12 riders per race). And the competition has been fun, with everyone really stepping up their game throughout the season. I've chalked up 11 wins in Stadium MX (and 2 in MX), which was more than I expected, and I am sitting on a comfortable points lead going into the last few races. I turn 28 this weekend, so it feels good to still be able to run with the younger riders. Again, I can't thank my sponsors enough for their support, as their dependable and top-notch products have helped me have a great season, and win a bunch of races! Can't wait to get that #1 plate!

New Video:
Check out my new video in my Video section - "Winter Riding at Double Stuff MX". http://www.sponsorhouse.com/Members/Nikki/Apps/Videos.aspx Shedding at one of the local sand tracks on a warm day in December, sure beats riding indoors! See more Double Stuff videos and my other MX videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/mxnikki102
Other Updates:
We have the 2006 AMA District 17 banquet this weekend, and I'm looking forward to doing the coverage for it, including photos, interviews, and stories for www.midwest-racing.com and Cycle USA. Should be fun, considering they usually pack the house with around 1,000 in attendance! And of course I'm excited to get my 2006 jacket for MX and SX points too!
I can't believe the District 17 MX season is scheduled to start next weekend! I doubt Casey will get in their first race, but it's great to know that the 2007 racing season is right around the corner! Plus the first race is scheduled for Super Bowl day.... GO CHICAGO BEARS!!
Then in the beginning of March, we head down south with friends for a 10-day riding trip! We did this last year, and had a blast, so we're going again. Hitting several Florida tracks (Bostwick, NFMX, Bartow, Quick Track, Waldo, and Hard Rock) plus Monster Mountain in Alabama. Also gonna be at the Daytona SX, to watch RC hopefully battle with Stewart 20 laps, with RC taking the win! Hoping for awesome weather like last year!
Until the next time....

The Air Nikki video gets a facelift! Same old footage (seeing myself hit the big step-up at Cooperland never gets old!) but I've updated the songs, title pages, and added a sweet sponsor thank you section to the end. This was my first time editing a video, so expect more to come! You can check out the updated video on my Sponsorhouse profile, or at this link:

We`re getting geared up to run the Peotone Fair Race next weekend, June 23rd (Fri) and 24th (Sat). I`m finalizing the race order and getting everything all set, while Red`s getting ready to build the track. Anyone in the IL/IN area - check it out, it`s a fun pre-Red Bud weekend! Carnival, bands, fireworks, and RACING! Here`s links to the flyer for more info:

Other than that, it`s been a rainy spring! I can`t believe Megacross has had 3.5 rainouts in the first 5 rounds! But I`ve been trying to ride and race as much as possible. We got hammered with 2" of rain this weekend, but went and played in the wet sand at Motoland today (felt like our own little Southwick). Last weekend, I took the win at a Cayuga race. And we had a busy Memorial Day weekend racing Megacross (5th out of 16), and Byron`s first Nuclear race (2nd out of 8).
I`ve also been busy pumping out race reports and photos. Already covered 2006 events for Megacross, Crossroads MX, Lincoln Trail MX, and Paradise MX (Loretta Lynn Qualifier). You can check out my articles and photos over on Cycle News Online in the Regional Events section, on www.midwest-racing.com, or in a copy of Midwest`s Cycle USA magazine. Of course, I try to include as many of my Sponsorhouse friends and riders with my same sponsors as possible.

After years of riding blue, I picked up a new `06 CRF 250 last week. Put in a few laps at our practice track this weekend, and I`m very happy with my new bike decision. Leaving March 8th for some warmer weather and lots of riding. Will be hitting up a few tracks in FL, one in GA, and racing two IL tracks (including a Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier) on the way home. Also catching the awesome 2006 SX action at Daytona - go RC!
