I have been involved with bikes from an early age. My parents were a big part in influencing me with athletic activities. I was very involved in traditional sports my whole life(football, basketball, baseball) until undergrad. I then was able to focus more on life sports like mountain biking and rock climbing. I had the opportunity to get on a downhill team(a culture of speed) this year and it is filling the competitive void that was left by not competing with traditional sports. In short , racing downhill has made me an athlete again and I am all in with effort and commitment! There are few things that get me as stoked as shredding gnarly terrain!!
2013 was a very exciting year for me! Hard work in training really paid off as I won the Cat. 2(19-29) State Championship series for Colorado. There was some adversity to overcome this season that almost prevented me from racing completely. Between my race bike getting stolen the week before nationals and being in a car crash this season in was hard to keep going and stay focused. I did end up with solid finishes in races at trestle, 7th at nationals, and 3rd in the open amateur division at crested buttes gravity slave to end the 2013 season.
My highlight in 2012(first season downhilling and racing!) was the 3rd place podium spot that I earned in an air downhill race in the trestle gravity series! Also top ten finishes in the Trestle gravity series and Mountain States Cup (amatuer/ cat.3). Finished the 12 hr. final descent race at trestle and ended up 7th of 27 in the men's expert solo division!
Keep improving to be the most effective rider possible for myself and team! Attaining these personal goals have started with training and will continue as the coming season approaches! I have tasted success and it has made me even hungrier! Progression is exciting in both ability and connections made along the way!
