I am Jerry Hazard. A 45 year male who rides xc, dj, fr, and dh - with a "concentration" on the DH stuff. I've been riding since the olden days, before Matt Hoffman was competing in pro, and the 2Hip contests were state of the art.
As life ebbed and flowed, I faded away from riding then was re-absorbed by mountain biking. Moved west a few years ago and made way in to the DH thing. While I've always been a sort of "soul rider", the last couple years I've been bit by the racing bug, and have dabbled a bit here and there, 12 hr endurance DH races, a couple Mountain States Cup races, and the 2011/12/13 Sea Otter Classic. This year, I will add Enduro to the list as well.
Started racing Cat 2 two years ago, enjoy the challenge and how it forces me to progress to a level I know I'm capable of. Became sponsored by Airborne Bicycles as a member of their "Flight Crew". Won the open amateur category at the Telluride 12 hour downhill race in October 2011. Placed 7th in Mens Cat 2 at Sea Otter in 2012. Looking to get top 5 this year, and move in to Cat 1 for local/regional races. I share my photos on Pinkbike, MTBR, Singletracks, Vital, and they've also been published in Dirt Rag Magazine a few dozen times.
Plans for 2013 are to make a real season out of it, rather than the hit and miss style I had for 2012. I feel I can be competitive in CAT 2, with a goal on advancing to top 10 by the end of the season, then moving to Cat 1.
