I started racing go-karts at age 8 on the 1/8th mile dirt tracks near my rural Kansas home. When my family moved to Topeka, KS I gave up racing to play sports in school. In 1996 I bought a Pontiac Fiero and decided to try my hand at autocross. I participated sporadically through high school and college. After college, I started a family; however, when the urge to compete again became too great to ignore, I found a Mazda Miata and started competing again in earnest in 2009.
Since 2009, I've moved from E Stock to C Street Prepared in SCCA Solo. Early on I competed only at the regional level as I developed my driving ability. Beginning in 2012, I am competing largely at the divisional and national level. So far in 2012, I have finished 8th in class at the SCCA Solo Spring Nationals at Lincoln Air Park (Lincoln, NE). I also finished 4th in class at MirrorKhana XXXV with the Salina Region SCCA.
This year I am focused on winning the 2012 Midwest Division (SCCA) Solo Championship. I am also working to podium in as many events as possible at the regional level.
In the next 12 months, my goal is to podium at an SCCA Nartional Tour event. This is a difficult goal, but I believe in stretching myself to reach tough, but attainable goals.
