FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Newport Beach (August 14, 2006)—The women of the Sportsman divisions put up a good fight in round eight of the CORR Lucas Oil Racing Series. The round was complete with good battles, a little controversy and some new winners.
CORR history was made with the best finish by a woman in the Super Buggy division. Stephanie Krieman ran fast holding third for a good portion of the race, but finished in fourth after Scott Schwalbe got around her. It was a runaway for Aaron Hawley as he took another first making it a good weekend for him at Bark River—the only driver to clean sweep both days. John Mason trailed behind taking second and Scott Schwalbe came in third.
The women of the Single Buggy division made a good showing in round eight. Heather Sullivan took the holeshot and led the race up to the half way point. Then her car went up in smoke and she was forced to pit with a broken fan belt. Cissy Baldwin ran in second, then dropped back but stayed racing in the top five. She finished in fifth position. In first was John Fitzgerald, in second Michael Seefeldt and in third Mark Steinhardt. “All these guys are fast, its so much fun, we put a lot into it and it pays off once in awhile,” said Fitzgerald.
In a popular win with other Light Buggy drivers Mike VandenHeuvel took the holeshot and led the entire race for his first ever career win. Taking second was Jeff Virnig and in third place was Craig Metz. Metz leads the points race with 95 points. Greg Stingle is in second with 91 points and Virnig trails in third with 71 points.
Defending Stock class champion Dave Waldvogel took home what looked to fans like a relatively easy win. He ran out in front, but could feel the pressure of 2004 class champion and current points leader Keith Steele who was hard on him. During the first half of the race Scott Beauchamp ran in the back of the pack and struggled to make the long haul to third.
Ben Wandahsega, took the holeshot in the Sportsman 2 division, gained a big lead then was forced to pit with a right, rear flat tire. He got back in the race in time to catch the lead lap but not in time to join the two races playing out for first and third. Mike Savage led the race all the way to the last lap with Daniel Baudoux filling his mirrors. Behind them a second race battled on between Ross Hoek and Don Williams. In the final lap Savage went to pass lapped traffic, but was hit by Daniel Baudoux who also tried to move into a small gap for the pass. The hit spun Savage, and allowed Baudoux to take the lead. Savage crossed the finish line after Baudoux who was penalized and moved to fifth position for contact. Savage took first, Ross Hoek second and Don Williams third.
Racers will go to Crandon, WI for rounds nine and ten of the CORR Lucas Oil Racing Series on September 2nd and 3rd.

CHAMPIONSHIP OFF-ROAD RACING SINGLE BUGGY
ROUND 5 Saturday, July 8, 2006
After an excellent practice Saturday morning Heather was to start 4th in the inversion in Round 5. Fast off the start, she ran in 3rd and 4th place most of the first lap. Then after the rhythm section she was pushed off the track. Still getting out in front of a few cars Heather tried to gain back her position. After making several passes a problem developed with her tear-offs. Racing 2 laps with almost no vision she attemped to clear her shield, only making vision impossible. With no warning Heather slammed into one of the concrete barriers on her last lap! She was unable to finish the race.
ROUND 6 Sunday, July 9, 2006
After a late night of repairs the 377 buggy made it back onto the starting line for Sundays race. With the front end of the car still bent badly from Saturdays accident it was a real handful to drive. Not having a good start the 377 buggy was in the back of the pack. In only an 8 lap race she did an impressive job passing her competition and finished in ninth place.

CHAMPIONSHIP OFF-ROAD RACING SINGLE BUGGY
ROUND 3 Saturday, June 24, 2006
Starting 3rd in the inversion the 377 car dashed to Crandons Turn 1 and was the second car to come through! Upon speeding through the first puddle on the track Heather’s mudeater system got jammed and she could not see. She managed to stay in 4th place through most of Lap 1 until the hairpin turn on the long end of the track. The buggy spun out allowing the rest of the Single Buggy class to get by. Very frustrated, Heather moved fast from 20th to 13th place before the end of the 8 lap race.
ROUND 4 Sunday, June 25, 2006
Determined to have a better finish Sunday, the 377 car was quick to the first turn. Quick enough to take the holeshot and run away with it! Making no mistakes, Heather lead the first 3 and a half laps of the 8 lap race. The fastest cars in the class made no ground on the leading 377 as the gap grew bigger between them. As the pressure got more intense, Heather got sideways in the same turn as the day before and many cars got by. Again she worked hard to get passed her competition as the race was already half over. The 377 buggy took a 10th place finish on Sunday.

CHAMPIONSHIP OFF-ROAD RACING SINGLE BUGGY
ROUND 1 Saturday, June 10, 2006
In Round 1 Heather started 5th in the starting grid. Fast out of the gate she was running 4th going into turn one. On a heavily watered track, the buggy in front of her spun halfway through the turn. The 377 buggy avoided the car but in turn spun also. After trouble restarting the buggy, Heather was the last car out of turn 1. Turning the second fastest lap time of the race and making up a ton of ground she started passing cars one and two at a time! By the end of the race she went from 19th and finished in 12th place.
ROUND 2 Sunday, June 11, 2006
Starting 5th again in Round 2 on Sunday, Heather ran in 4th place until the last turn in Lap 1. The 377 buggy was sandwiched between the corner marker and the car next to her when the buggy behind her drove under the rear of the car spinning her around. By the time she was heading the right direction the field of Single Buggies had passed. Again Heather had a lot of work to get back into the pack. Making several passes right down to the last lap, Heather was able to finish in 13th place.
