Well its August, the heart of the summer and when the snowmobile watercross season really picks up.  We have had two races so far, both season openers for the EWA (Eastern Watercross Association) and the NYSWRA (New York State Watercross Racing Assoc.) respectively.

With Tim and Luke both riding their first full Pro seasons, making finals is the main goal and they sure accomplished that this past weekend at Flat Rock where both of them made the 600 Pro Oval Final on Sat. and Sun.  With Team Highside representing 2 of 5 riders in the Main Event we are very satisfied.  The entire class is fast and looking at the names and sleds that didn't make the Final because our riders are in the mix now puts everything in perspective.

Matt Schebaum's first full Semi-Pro season is off to a solid start but he'll admit there is more to do for sure.  Making 3 of 4 finals at Darien Lake (EWA) and just missing them this past weekend at Flat Rock due to a combination of bad luck and some greedy decisions leaves him "more focused and hungry" to improve...

The next event is the second points race on the EWA Tour at Norwood, NY August 29-30 then back to Flat Rock in Lowville, NY September 12...Darien Lake, NY September 19-20...and the Eastern Championships in Fremont, NH October 12-14.

You can find real-time updates from the races at our blog http://teamhighside.blogspot.com, videos at www.highsidefilms.com, or follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/teamhighside

Last but not least we would like to thank Fly Racing, Amsoil, Pickwicks Motorsports, EVS Sports, Utopia Optics, and Slednecks

This past Memorial Day weekend Team Highside was at the Flat Rock Inn, home to the New York State Watercross Championships, for the first official practice session of 2009.  Although work started in preparation for 2009 many months ago in the race shop, this was the chance to make it all pay off and do some real world testing to make sure everything is dialed in for the opening race.

Matt and Luke both took their time breaking in their fresh race motors before really getting into it and trying to put in fast laps.  Some clutching and gearing changes, as well as a new race number (#99) was in store for Semi-Pro rider Matt Schebaum and all proved successful as his laps were already faster than last year.

Luke played with a couple different clutch configurations in the early rounds of practice trying to find the RPMs he needs to compete at the Pro level.  Before the day was over, the combination of his fresh Crank Shop mod motor and perfect clutch setup got him turning Pro laps.

Following our philosophy of always looking to take things to the next level, Team Highside has their sights set on competing in the Snowmobile Watercross World Championships in Grantsburg, WI.  Sanctioned by the IWA (International Watercross Association) and the site of the 2009 East/West Challenge, this event could be considered one of the biggest in our sport, a good finish promising lots of exposure.

What's different about racing out there?  Races go in the opposite direction around the course, an obvious difference many racers find challenging to master.

Once all our sleds were dialed in by the end of practice Memorial Weekend, Matt and Luke, in true Team Highside fashion, switched a few chassis parts and went right!!  How did it turn out?  "That was no big deal" commented Luke after turning about 5 right handers at comparable speeds.  "Going right is fun" said Matt after doing the same.

And so the course is set...Team Highside has their eyes on much success going into 2009 focusing on many wins on the EWA and NYSWRA, and now a goal to head to Grantsburg to compete with the sports best riders at the World Championships.

Check back soon for more updates as we gear up for the season opener June 27th at Darien Lake Theme Park in Western New York.

Welcome everybody to the 2009 season!

Activity is picking back up in the race shop as Team Highside is beginning preparation for the 2009 season.  Everyone on the Highside crew is really stoked and we have a lot in store for this year...

Luke Janiszewski #556 is coming off an EWA Semi-Pro Oval Championship and his first Pro season at Flat Rock on the NYSWRA circuit.  For 2009, Luke is full pro on both EWA and NYSWRA.

Finishing in 2nd overall on the EWA Semi-Pro Ovals season, Tim Doi #56 will also be running a full Pro season for 2009.

Returning to Semi-Pro Ovals after a very successful rookie season, Matt Schebaum is back with his sights set on following in the tradition of Semi-Pro Ovals Championships for Team Highside.  Traveling cut his season short last year and cost him a few places in the points standings, but with plans of running an entire EWA and NYSWRA Semi-Pro season, Matt will be the rider to watch in 2009.

The 2009 schedule will be posted here soon but can also be found on the Team Highside Blog on blogspot...

All our fans and fans of watercross will want to make sure they keep up to date on Team Highside as there are many things in store for 2009, some you will have to wait until race day to find out for yourself.....

Can't wait to go racing!!!!!

Congratulations to Team Highside Racing's Luke Janiszewski #556 on his 2008 Semi-Pro Oval Championship season in the Camoplast Eastern Watercross Tour.  Luke took home the top spot for the season in the Semi-Pro Oval 600cc and 800cc classes.

It doesn't stop there...

Team Highside rider Tim Doi #56 took 2nd place for the season in both the 600cc and 800cc Semi-Pro Ovals.

Everyone at Team Highside Racing would like to thank our sponsors for helping out during a great season and hope that everyone is as excited for next year as we are.  With Tim & Luke most likely running a full pro season on both the NYSWRA & EWA circuits and Matt coming back full force in Semi-Pro for 2009, we can't wait for the first race.

But first we're going to ride sleds on snow for a couple months and enjoy all the great action that the winter snowmobile season brings...

Enjoy the winter,
Team Highside Racing

Team Highside Racing's Luke Janiszewski #556 and Tim Doi #56 put up great results at the Camoplast Eastern Watercross Tour season finale at the NH Grassdrags & Watercross in Fremont, NH.

Check out their individual athlete pages for details....

As the 2008 Snowmobile Watercross season is coming to an end, we are stoked about how the season has gone.  Coming into the last stop on the Camoplast Eastern Watercross Tour in Fremont, NH, team rider Luke Janiszewski #556 is leading both the 600cc and 800cc Semi-Pro Ovals classes.  In second place, team rider Tim Doi #56 trails by a close margin.  In fact, up until September's Brick Pond Splash in Elmira, NY, team rider Matt Schebaum #23 was 3rd in both the 600 and 800 Semi-Pro Ovals rounding out a Team Highside dominated Top 3.  But due to an end of season absense because of travel arrangements (I'm in New Zealand until Dec.) it is up to Luke and Tim to bring home the top of the podium season overall wins.

The New Hampshire Grassdrags & Watercross is one of the biggest snowmobile events of the year consisiting of the best grassdrag racers, watercrossers, and freestyle riders in a weekend long bash including swap meets, dealer shows, and of course great racing.  Usually the largest spectator event of our watercross season, everyone is pumped to get out on Peterson's Pond to finish out the season.  WIth Luke Janiszewski #556 and Tim Doi #56 looking to wrap up their 1-2 spots on the season and represent for Team Highside, there is no better stage than centerstage in New Hampshire in front of 18,000 people.

Check back this week to hear news and results from NH...

Some updates:

Team Highside Racing gains new Semi-Pro Oval Rider

Matt Schebaum has joined Team Highside Racing for the 2008 Watercross Season and is planning on racing both in the NYSWA and EWA circuits.  He will be riding a 2007 Ski-Doo REV 600 in the Semi-Pro Oval class.  Matt is not new around the Highside Crew as he is actually the founder of Highside Films and has been Team Manager for Team Highside Racing since 2006.

This brings Team Highside's roster to (2) Pro Oval riders and (2) Semi-Pro Oval riders.  If one thing this race season is for sure, Team Highside Racing will be making quite the presence on the scene this year.

As most people in the snowbelt are getting their last rides in for the season, everyone here at Team Highside Racing / Highside FIlms is just getting started for a whole new season of snowmobile racing, WATERCROSS!!!

The big news here this season is that team riders Tim Doi #56 and Luke Janiszewski #556 will both be racing Pro this season on the New York State Watercross Racing Association 3 event championship schedule.

Also, there may be some roster changes for this coming season as Brad Cook may reclaim his duties as outstanding pit crew to give up the racing to new, but already Semi-Pro, rider Jamie Brown.  Jamie is getting his Ski-Doo REV ready for Semi-Pro ovals and will surely add to the already stacked Team Highside Racing roster.

The excitement doesn't stop there.  Highside Films has been hard at work during the 'off season', well there really isn't one here, working on the release of its next full-length DVD containing all the action packed Snowmobile Watercross racing from both the 2007 NYSWCRA and EWA racing seasons.  All sorts of things are planned for this year at the Highside camp so be sure to brace for what's coming...

See you at the races

This past weekend was the last stop on the EWA Watercross tour at the NH Grassdrags & Watercross in Fremont, NH.  Team rider Tim Doi #56 came into the event with a rebuilt motor and was a little unsure of what was going to happen to it.  In practice on Friday, it was getting pretty hot but it was running strong.  Well halfway through Saturday's program he burned a piston in the middle of a race.  After a top end rebuild in less than 30 mins in the pits, Tim made it back out to finish out the day with a 4th in the 600 semi-pro ovals, a 5th in the 7's, and a 3rd in the 8's.  Going into Sunday's program was iffy on this touchy motor as Tim had to run a couple heats and then a final on Sunday morning to finish out Sat's program before Sunday's program even started.  Tim made the tough decision to only run the 600 semi-pro ovals on Sundays program in order to keep his motor strong for those races.  It payed off as his equipment held up and he went on to take an overall 1st in that class.

Due to sled trouble, Luke Janiszewski #556 did not qualify for Sat. finals and withdrew from Sunday's program, but his great results in Elmira will ensure a good finish in the points for the EWA.

For 2007, HIGHSIDE FILMS presents the first ever full-length Watercross DVD featuring highlights from the 2006 NYSWCA & EWA Racing Seasons all put to a great soundtrack
