Brandon is 9 years old and is in the 4th grade at Livermore Valley Charter School. He lives in Livermore, CA with his little brother Justin, baby sister Natalie and Mom and Dad. Brandon York is a Factory Tangent Team Rider for 2013 (www.tangentproducts.com). Currently Brandon’s BMX ranking is 1st in district points (CAO4) for the 2013 USA BMX season. He has also received a 2nd place state plate for Northern California, 2012-2013 as well as a 3rd place Redline Cup plate for 2012-2013. Brandon also enjoys training at Velocity Sports Performance in Dublin, Ca.
Brandon was on a bike at 3 years old and off training wheels less than six months later. After watching BMX races at the track in his hometown of Livermore, Ca, Brandon wanted so bad to try racing. Mom finally gave in but only after Brandon promised to wear protective padding from head-to-toe. At the age of 6, Brandon entered his first race and HE WON! Brandon has been hooked ever since. After only 15 races Brandon advanced from Novice level to an Intermediate. Brandon knows that to be very good at something you have to put in the hard work. In every sport Brandon participates in he takes it upon himself to train and practice. He trains at BMX race clinics and Bubba camps throughout California, and when there is gate practice, Brandon is there. He does laps in the pool to build up his “wind” because as he says "that makes you fast." He is a “clean” racer, and after a race he always gives knuckles to his opponents and tells his fellow racers "good race," but most of all he has FUN!
When Brandon is not on the BMX track he enjoys reading, drawing, running, swimming, playing baseball and soccer. Brandon started running at school when he was in Kindergarten. He loved it so much he would get up early every morning so he could run with the older kids. In 2009 Brandon's school won the California State Governor’s Fitness Award and Brandon was recognized by Governor Schwarzenegger’s office for running the most laps in an hour by a first grader. Brandon has played on several indoor and outdoor soccer teams, was a member of the Livermore Jr. Giants baseball team in 2009, and has participated in Livermore National Little League for 2 years. Known as “the fastest kid,” he has received multiple MVP awards
