I've been riding bike basically my whole life but never mountain biking till 2 summers ago. My dad got me a cross country bike for my birthday and me and him would go on short cross country ride just so I could get used to the bike and biking on trail. Then one day we decided to go to Highland Mountain Bike Park and right from that first run I was in love with the sport. I love the feeling of being free and going fast. I went back there with a real downhill bike and I loved it even more. Then I decided I wanted to take it the next level by doing a race, so I decided I wanted to go the race at my local snow mountain for one of the eastern states cup races. I got there saturday not knowing what to expect. I got to the top and rode the course slow at first then run after run I got faster and faster. I felt great with my family and friends behind me. Sunday came around I was never so nervous in my life. I took 3 practice runs and waited till it was my time to race. I got in the gate and never felt so sick to my stomach. Those 5 beeps are like music to my ears now. I pedaled as hard as I could until the woods and stayed calm through the whole course. Then when I got to the finish I looked at the ranks and saw I got first and at my first downhill race ever. I knew from right there I wanted to make this sport my life and go to the world cup one day. I went on that year to win 5 consecutive races and move up 3 catigories.
