I ski in Canada under the Alberta Alpine Ski Racing Association. I am in the age group of 13-16 year old otherwise known as U-16. I am currently sponsored by Volkl and POC (snow). I am ranked the top skier in Alberta from the year 1998 and top 5 in Western Canada. In all of U-16 I am ranked top 5, and top 10 in Western Canada.
I started ski racing when I was 4 years old have loved the sport ever since. I was consistently placing 5, 6 & 7th until I reached the age of 9. In my last year on Nancy Green (8-10) I started to become better than the competition I was racing against. In my first year of U-14 (11-14) I was able to compete with the 14 year olds very well. I was getting Top 10 almost every race. When I was in my last year of U-14 I came 1st in series points for that year and that is when Volkl and POC (snow) reached out to me about a sponsorship. I agreed happily and haven't let them down yet!
Last year when I was competing with those same guys from my first year in U-14, I was able to place above most of them. I had made it into the Top 10 for Series Points and was invited to Can-Am's (Canadian Nationals) During that race I placed 6th in Super G and another 6th in GS. For slalom I was able to place a decent 9th. I was then given a FULL sponsorship from Volkl and I am now the Youngest Male in Canada to receive a FULL sponsorship in the Ski Racing sport.
This year has been amazing so far with the people I have met and places I have seen. My most memorable event this year has to be meeting the US Ski Team in Copper Mountain and being able to ski their Speed Course (DownHill). I was able to stay within 6 seconds of the leader and was congratulated by their coach for beating one of his racers by 1 tenth of a second on one run :)
In my past race in Jasper, Alberta, Canada I placed 7th in GS but unfortunately had a DNF on my two slalom races. During the first race (3 weeks ago) I placed 8th and 4th in GS.
I am only a 2nd year in U-16 and I still have 1 more year in U-16 after this year. I have been able to beat most of all 3rd years in U-16. So for next year I will be trying to be the top skier for U-16 in Western Canada. Then onto the Top 5 ski racers of U-16 in Canada!
How I plan to do that is work more on the skills I have by perfecting them as best as possible. I have already planned to go to Mt.Hood in Oregon, U.S.A. for some after ski season training with World Cup coaches from Europe. Before the ski season starts I will be going to Copper Mountain in Colorado, U.S.A. to be coached by a Australian World Cup Coach.
I hope we can talk more about some possible product deals or sponsorships.
Thanks for the consideration.
I go all out and push myself to the limit!
