Outdoor Technology is a Southern California based action sports accessory brand. We first got our start making the Yowie®, which is a microfiber polyester tube of fabric that can be worn around the head as helmet liner, facemask, neck gaiter, or all of the above. These took off mainly because of our unique designs and prints, all of which are all done in-house.
The general idea behind the brand is to make innovative accessories that enhance or promote sporting activities, exercise, music, or whatever it is that gets you going. With the Yowie®, it’s easy to see why the brand took hold with the freeski and snowboard community, but our more technical roots began showing their potential when, after about two years of development, we released our first wireless audio device, the stereo Bluetooth Tags, at the Outdoor Retailer tradeshow in January of 2011. Prior to that, Bluetooth was never cool, and wireless earbuds never sounded so good. Now you see reviews from reputable names like CNET praising the technology and value in this headset. The success of the Tags gave us the inspiration to make more devices with that same level of innovation and style, without breaking the bank. This summer we released our new DJ Slims, the over-ear version of the Tags, which incorporate the same wireless technology and phone capability, but in a more familiar over ear design.
Outdoor Tech will always continue to look to our fans for inspiration, weather its fashion, action sports, or wireless audio. Whatever we make, it will always be done with attention to style, and an emphasis on having fun.
